Back on the Homefront
After two weeks on the road and before that a trip to Colombia, it is nice to be back home. I took this picture over the weekend before we made the long flight back across the pond. Some thoughts on the trip. Sky News has a fantastic set up for their studio’s and location just outside London. It can be tough to get there from the center of the city, but once you do, everyone is welcoming and it’s good to see our sister network at work. Also while in London, I had a number of people (taxi drivers, waiters, etc.) who after realizing we were American, expressed their support for our work around the globe. It was nice to hear, especially when criticism can sometimes feel like the norm coming from Europe. In Northern Ireland, the building peace and economy seems to be taking hold. People seemed happy and while acknowledging tensions and ill feelings between the two sides, they are as optimistic as ever about a much more peaceful and prosperous future. Finally, while in the Republic of Ireland, it was clear that many in the country want to remain neutral and basically avoid involving themselves in major foreign affairs. In newspaper articles, television reports and on the radio, people criticized the war in the Middle East and complained about the United States using the Shannon airport as a stop. The Irish were very friendly, but there is a current of neutrality that is very strong.

Did anyone along the way recongize you from Fox News?
Adam and Tamera
Welcome Home!!!!!!!!!!!
Great picture! I am glad you guys made it back safely.
Welcome Home.
Glad you had a great trip. Are you all rested up? Or do you need another vacation?
Welcome back Adam.
I think the America haters are just a whole lot louder than those who love America, and much of the media gives the haters much more attention.
Welcome home Adam,,,,,I still hope you can do a story on the California Dept of Fish and Game, and whats happening not only in california but in every state. I can several contacts of every level if you need them.
Welcome home Adam-
I was afraid you were trapped in Terminal #5 at Heathrow. lol
I know you had fun Adam, I have wondered what the sky news place was like too!
Adam–
glad you are back– Now you probably need some real rest!! Jen was worried you were somehow in Terminal 5 in London–
I was hoping you were going to make one last stop in Italy–

Are you going to send K2 her special greeting for her having been so clever to guess where you and Tamera went on vacation?
LDG gave us history lessons about Eire/Northern Ireland– including the story behind The Four Green Fields– and he kept the Iraq threads very much alive of course with the help of Derek and Retread–
Your friend Robert has a sense of humor but I don’t think I will go visit the Shieks with him– there is the thread aka Puke thread where he vividly gives a description on how to eat while in Iraq- YUCK! Robert needs to visit LDG in Japan so LDG can take him out to enjoy some fine cuisine.
However, I did guess Robert was in Diyala– (LDG helped me here). LDG needs to be on payroll. He is brilliant.
Don’t forget Surfer’s request about the game/warden/poaching updates. I am curious as well too.
Say hello to your mom– she has been absent for a few days.
(The answer was Mollly–)
And for Max’s sanity- is Anita’s husband, Olaf, an ex or are they still married? Speaking of which, Greta had a guess game on who just got engaged and Patty was concerned Greta’s thread had you as the answer when we should be the first to know–
And don’t forget to check out why some people here can’t post their sites- Kathy in Texas….
Signed,
Your Personal Assistant
I am thinking of that Welcome Back Kotter song…
wait.. is that the name? … from the 70’s….
w/ John Travolta…
Welcome Back.
Terri–
You can listen to it -

Ahhhh … thanks my little buddy!
I was right…
I swear.. that song popped into my head when I saw this post….
Hugs!
Hubs is home… making brownies w/ hershey kisses, pork w/ sauerkraut (sp?) and BBQ sauce…. and white petite corn.
Notice I listed dessert first…
one time my friends and I ordered dessert first.. then dinner… we wanted to be sure to have enough room in the tummy…
our husbands were all irritated w/ us…
Terri–
I love the way you eat!!! Yes– dessert has to be first!! You have to build the energy to eat-
Oh oh oh.. I am so excited… DWTS is on… we get all excited to watch…
I love Jason Taylor….
Anyway.. I’ve been so bugged all day about the people boo’ing Bush when he threw the opening ball….. that is so incredibly rude…
I was crushed for him…
AND THEN…
I see that that hate spewing Rev. Wright gets a standing ovation in a Catholic Church…
It’s soo bass ackwards.
Sad sad .. our country is in one mell of a hess.
sauerkraut is correct. If you wanted to you could just call it sour-cabbage, as that’s a literal translation.
Also: The order you eat your meal isn’t too important, as long as you’re aware of the sizes of all the portions before hand. I normally plan my portion sizes before cooking, that way i’ve got a limit for myself. If i was to serve myself as i ate i’d eat a lot more.
Max,
that’s why I do best w/ Lean Cusines….
I tend to eat WAY too much if I serve myself!
Dessert…. well… that’s a toughy…
I don’t like to limit the portions.
Hugs buddy!
Brownies are done done donesky. I must go sample. Drats, no milk!
Terri–
You are going to laugh because after I read about what LDG had for dinner and dessert, I had bought a what is called- Opera Cake last week at Trader Joes– a french coffee and chocolate confection cake– several thin layers with different fillings– I have had three pieces today– Breakfast, lunch, and dinner– speaking of which– time to go fix Ken his dinner!
Max- when you come to visit– We will be cooking!
xxxxxxx
(off to the kitchen to fix Ken dinner)
Max–
saw the prairie picture– ahhh!!! until they get into your face-
hugs!!!!!!!
So Happy my family is all home!
Yeah-can you tell how I feel.
I am still a working Mom-so don’t have
a lot of free time-but do try to read all
of your blogs! Some are interesting and some
are just plain fun!
Keeping up with the threads is challenging tsoo!
What project? Susan AZ?
Mrs. Housley-
We are doing a project for your son’s birthday. I have probably already said too much. I sent you an email - but you may have not seen it.
I can’t elaborate on it here because your son might figure it out.
Part of the project is headed off to England this week.
I was gone this week-end and today I got a bit busy with my home and plus other responsibilites. I have not seen the television in about three days- I noticed on Greta’s something about 1996 and Obama. I have no idea what is going on there. Too many politics and too many wars- this is all I know.
Ignorance to me is somewhat bliss at times! I get more done!
What I like about your son’s blog is how we still carry on a semblance of respect. And although, we are like behind a monitor, we can actually see each other.
Your son has some very good friends here. Very loyal-
And I sure love it when you come to visit- it makes it more home!!!!
xxxxx
P.S. Mrs. Housley
You did a great job as well as with your husband to have such a nice son. As well as with your other son.
xxxxx
Welcome back to reality!!!
Terri-
(me singing way off key)
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.
Who’d have thought they’d lead ya (Who’d have thought they’d lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we’ve hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
I thought of the same thing when I saw it…hahahahaha
Terri: I just try and eat things that are filling. Then i don’t eat so much, and save money.
Hey Derek…
thanks for singing that to us… cute!!
Max….
hum.. I try to eat oatmeal every morning… not fattening.. and it sticks to the ribbies.
Terri: I normally have something more filling, like sausages and eggs.
But i’ve started having a smaller snack right when i wake.
A belated Welcome Back to our fine host and his travelling company!
Welcome back. Hope you’re well rested and ready for new adventures.
Glad to have you back Adam,
How was that Chelsea game?
Is Tamera now a fan?
